We wrote it and we filmed most of it. In fact, I think we filmed all of it before we knew if we were coming back or not. Which means that any given season is just 18 or 22 stories that have a beginning, middle, and end in each one. You know, most stories have been told. WADE: In the best sense that the people who work on the show both in front of the camera and behind it always seem to want to come back so there was a point when we were outside on Long Island filming the season finale and it was exactly like a high school class trip and I thought you know, this is just a high school that we never graduate from.
For us, really part of the heart of telling stories about urban politics versus policing is having the two guys you know, the goliaths going at each other and I love doing those. WADE: Quite possibly. Quite possibly. He often acted as the bridge between his brothers, but still often complained to Jamie about how Danny rode him at work [1]. Although never married, he dated Angela Ferraro. After his death she moved, only to later come back and marry a detective from Narcotics.
Out of respect for Joe, she invited the Reagan family to the wedding. He briefly dated his former classmate Paula Hill , while they were both still in the Police Academy. Paula would eventually became pregnant with Joe's child, but she never told him about it.
She named their son Joseph Hill , after his father. Joe is mentioned quite often, especially when there is the death of an officer in the line of duty or grave danger to one of the family. Blue Bloods is finally on the way back to CBS for Season 12 after nearly four full months of hiatus , and changes are on the way for the Reagans.
The family has been through a lot over the years and dealt with their fair share of heartbreak, some of which still hasn't been fully addressed. Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg, lost wife Linda several seasons ago now , but according to the Blue Bloods showrunner, Season 12 will give him some clarity.
In the Season 12 premiere of Blue Bloods , Danny will consult a psychic to solve the murder of a young boy, which brings him into contact with medium Maggie Gibson, played once again by Callie Thorne.
While that's already an unconventional investigative avenue, to say the least, Danny is going to get more than what he was looking for out of the encounter with Maggie. He wakes up a bit. Linda was nowhere to be seen in the episode, and in some clunky exposition it was revealed that she had died between the events of seasons 7 and 8 in a helicopter crash while treating patients as part of her job as an ER nurse. Needless to say, the surprising and underwhelming conclusion to one of the series' longest running characters was a shock.
The strange death seemed like a clear indication that Linda's demise was not originally a part of the story arc the writers had envisioned for her character. Sadly, the search for answers would prove to be as confusing as Linda's death itself.
After the episode aired, fans took to Twitter to express their feelings, and actress Amy Carlson responded with a vague message of thanks.
Mostly, I am grateful to the fans who have supported me and the show. Things got a bit more complicated several months later when the remaining cast of Blue Bloods appeared on a panel at the television industry event PaleyFest. When asked about Carlson's departure, her co-star Bridget Moynahan, who plays Linda's sister-in-law on the show, had this to say : "We were all disappointed to see that she was going.
