Our large group never had any issues with space; quite the contrary, I got in my daily 10, steps just looking for people throughout this cavernous estate! My ONLY negative feedback; the kitchen is so large, finding things became its own game!
It needs someone to organize it. We loved staying at the Victory Lodge and look forward to finding another reason to stay there. We had a wonderful week! Plenty of room for 14 of us- great location- incredible views!! Caretaker was a pleasure to work with. We had our smallish wedding 55 Guests at Victory Lodge this 4th of July weekend and I cannot even describe how magical the whole experience was.
So here is a synopsis from start to finish: The owner was very prompt at getting back to me with questions about the lodge and very nice in assuring that our wedding would be beautiful there. He quickly introduced me to Jenny, the day of coordinator, who was able to help answer all the wedding questions, point me to vendors, and send little check-ins. I had never been to June Lake or seen the lodge so I was planning in the dark but it all worked out perfectly.
Once we got there we were absolutely blown away. We are outdoorsy people so the nature setting was what we were going for and we were blown away with the view! That deck is simply perfect for enjoying coffee in the morning or drinks in the afternoon. John Adams the lodge keeper is the sweetest man and helpful in every way. If there was a minor issue he was there to fix it and he knows the area so was helpful when it came to hikes etc. The lodge was clean and spacious and had more amenities than one could think to describe.
Of course there were little quirks but we loved it all. The master suite was amazing for us as the wedding couple.
The view from the bath is glorious and the large bathroom was perfect for myself and my bridesmaid to get ready and take getting ready photos in. All the master suites were wonderful for my family and friends. The group room is smallish with bunkbeds and more for kids but my 6 adult friends were troopers and had a blast in what they called the Adult summer camp room. The game room was an unbelievable hit with the boys having foosball, pool, and shuffleboard tournaments on the reg.
Same with the lawn They even played basketball. The double kitchen scenario was just right for all of us to have our own fridge, freezer, and cupboard space. We had two friends that played the piano so we had live music throughout the weekend which permeated the living room and bar area. The day of the wedding was magical. Jenny was so so so helpful and she felt like part of our friend group from the start.
We had done a run through and chatted the day before so I literally didn't deal with a thing on the day of. She took care of it all. We got our deposit back right away so no hassle there either.
We loved it so much we are already planning our next visit! Big and beautiful Awesome weight room with steam room and sauna. Unbelievable views of the surrounding mountains and lakes.
One of the best propane grills I've had the pleasure of cooking on. Full game room, multiple dining rooms, More kitchen space than most restaurants. We pre ground our coffee worried that there wouldn't be a grinder but there were about 4 of them there.
Pots, pans, spices, even alumnium foil type stuff was stocked in the kitchen. A ten minute walk into the town of June Lake you'll find Little John's art gallery, tackle shops and a great brewery June Lake Brewing.
I'm not kidding the beer was really good! I can't say enough great things. Would love to come back next year! My project team was looking for a large venue to conduct team building and strategy making. It was important to find a location that provided plenty of space for breakout sessions for multiple teams and inspiration in a natural setting. When I originally discovered the Victory Lodge, it clear stood out in terms of size and setting.
I had high expectations before arriving onsite given the description and photos. Upon arrival, the care-taker, John showed my team around the lodge, we were all completely blown away by the shear beauty and highly crafted lodge. The view of Gull lake and the snow capped mountains in the background really set the tone for our stay. The lodge had everything we needed for our activities including a fully equipped kitchen for our team dinners.
As I spent time studying the build quality of the lodge there are no short-cuts in the craftsmanship! This really showed the level of detail the owner and builder took to provide a whimsical experience for the quests. Also, the photos of the place are beautiful but simply do not do it justice. When you see the Victor lodge in person, it truly is awe inspiring. A couple of words about the owner and caretaker. Tom was very responsive to my emails and phone calls and very flexible.
John, the caretaker, was always available to answer questions when my team need assistance. Very accommodating. Overall, this was a range-topping experience from VRBO. Quite amazing. Thank you Tom and John. It has everything you might need for a vacation and MORE. I can't wait to be back with my family. Thank you Tom and John for your hospitality. We just returned from an absolutely wonderful stay at the beautiful Victory Lodge. The home is stunning and expansive and has gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Our party of 12 included 6 young children all of whom were constantly entertained either roaming or playing in the many rooms of the house. The lodge is very close to skiing and sledding and about 20 minutes away from Mammoth. Although there is a market and a few restaurants just down the street, we had lots of fun cooking our meals together in the big kitchen.
An absolute highlight are the property caretakers. They are the warmest and most hospitable of people and they couldn't have made us feel more welcome or have been more help than they were. Lovely people. I very highly recommend Victory Lodge! We certainly will be going back! When we found out it was for rent on VRBO, this immediately became the destination for our Summer vacation.
For starters, the responsiveness and hospitality offered by ownership and by the onsite caretaker was absolutely top-notch. We brought a group ranging from members of various family friends to Victory Lodge for 6 days, and the home easily accomodated the entire group.
The amenities offered within the home gave everyone adults and kids plenty to do during the rare moments of downtime during our trip. The main kitchen and service kitchen of course provided more than enough room and facilities to cook some amazing meals. The large dining table was a real treat, with gathered at one table for any given meal.
The Great Room with its massive fireplace feature, full bar and massive elk-horn chandelier was a fantastic gathering location for everyone, and it never felt cramped or noisy given its size and breathtaking views of Gull Lake, June Mountain and Carson Peak. The game room equipped with shuffleboard, a pool table, foosball and a poker table was a huge hit for all ages. One tip - for a full service experience, I highly recommend hiring a chef so that you and your group can rest and enjoy all this amazing home and mountain venue has to offer.
This first visit will absolutely not be our last visit. For a large group, the price is extremely reasonable, and we highly recommend Victory Lodge for your next large group visit to the Mammoth Area. You will NOT regret the investment! We are a group of 20 co-workers in LA who annually travel to June Lake to fish for a few days. We were familiar with the owner's house and once we learned it could be rented out, we inquired about the rental.
The owner immediately responded to our request and reserved our trip 9 months in advance. The booking process was so simple and secure! The home is incredible! After spending so much time fishing each day it was great to come back to the house and enjoy all of the amenities. There is so much to do inside the home it feels like you are in a full service hotel. We enjoyed the bbq out on the deck while taking in the fantastic views of Carson Peak and Gull Lake each night.
